The North Carolina Housing Table is a Coalition of organizations from across North Carolina, that have come together to support statewide legislation that will bring about more housing choices for all North Carolinians.

We support building more starter homes, accessory dwelling units, workforce housing, and smaller residences near job hubs, to better serve North Carolina families. In our first year, we will focus on legalizing accessory dwelling units across North Carolina.

“In North Carolina, I believe everything starts with home. Freedom and opportunity depend on where people can live, how they access jobs, and whether they can build a stable future,” says Founder/Executive Director Denzel D. Burnside III. “Through smart, equitable, proven policies to create more homes of all shapes and sizes, we can open real pathways to homeownership and upward mobility. Our goal is to work diligently at the statewide level to build communities that are accessible, connected, and centered on the needs of North Carolinians.

As philosopher T.M. Scanlon reminds us, ‘We cannot justify our actions to others unless we can show that they are compatible with principles that no one could reasonably reject.’ Housing policy, then, is not just about economics—it’s about justice, dignity, and what we owe to each other.”

“I'm excited to be 'at the table' because I believe we can learn from each other, and none of us are smarter than all of us.”

- Chris

”I joined the Housing Table because housing is everything. Where we live impacts our employment opportunities, our quality of life, and the strength of our community. By making it easier to build all kinds of housing, we can help ensure that North Carolina remains one of the most dynamic and welcoming states in the country."
